Paint me a picture of something,

use your paintbrush to create a lie.

And on ever so fragile paper,

hide the truth that you hold inside.

Paint me a picture, write me a poem,

tell me a story without proof.

Hide what's real behind your words,

since no one cares about the truth...

Tell me a story of love,

and the selfishness that some conceal.

Create chapter after chapter,

of all the pain it won't reveal.

This poem is by my daughter Allison who wanted me to share this with the group. She is eager to hear any comments people may have. She is 14 now and next year she will be starting her first year of high school.

Your daughter has inherited her mother's talent. I love the honesty and openness of this poem. It has a gentle rhythm and a delicate touch overall. Your daughter is to be commended on a job well done.  applause  Dance & Sing bird

G'day Allison
You are welcome. I'm impressed that you worked on this poem for awhile. Too many people write their first thoughts down and leave it there. I real piece of art or good writing has to be 'worked' and in the end, look as though it hasn't been worked at all. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your poem and will again. It's terrific that your mum is your favourite poet!! Somehow, I think you are both very proud of each other! : cool

Hi Ivy.
I have just found this work having flicked to see who was around and noticed it had been flagged up and took time to read it for the first time.
Using another art form to express feelings, in this case painting to hide words and feelings is great in my opinion. I tried using colours to replace punctuation to step outside the box for a while and enjoyed every minute.
Great! Really liked this work.  Positive Karma

Thank you for sharing   wave

Best regards

Paul
