Who's following who?

I'm allways being followed
No matter where I go,
When turning sharply left or right
It always seems to know.

Even when I climb the stairs
Or dodge the rushing crowds;
I turn to see it standing there,
So very smug and proud!

I notice though at times it hides
Like when I shelter for the bus,
But, as I step up to get on board;
It jumps out to beat the rush!

You never know what it's going to do
When out walking side by side,
It's quick to always read my mind
When I increase my stride.

It never takes to heart my spurn
When i'm tired of being followed;
The one sure thing I can guarantee,
Is it will be back again tomorrow.

Hi Paul,

Whoever this follower is, they sound like a shady sort to me, you'd best be careful there. A fun and enjoyable read with a good strong rhythm to it.

Thanks for sharing,
Ben.

Hey Paul,

Thanks, things are pretty good over here, but busy as always. The time is just flying by at the moment, days seem to get shorter and shorter as my son gets taller and taller. I'm thinking of putting a brick on his head just so I can have a slow relaxing day. Smiley

How things on your end?

Good to see you back by the way.
Cheers,
Ben.

  Oh yeah, 'Who's Following Who?' is exemplary of fine children's poetry in every sense. It moves along never losing pace and that's often just the ticket to hold a child's attention. Though the subject is very clear, it's not blatant and this gives the child a place to go in his/her mind... they share the 'secret' so to speak. Light, captivating, fun and full of images and movement, you have done an excellent job with this one. I enjoy children's poetry and found this one a run read.

Good afternoon feralpen.
Thank you for your taking time to find and read this piece pf as it was hidden way back amongst other work. I had totally forgotten about it and was pleased to read it once again.
     I enjoy writing poetry for children. Full stop!
For me, each one is like giving a present and then watching the faces as it gets ripped apart to see inside.
     Having never been a reader of nonfactual material it came as a bit of a shock when I started off. Like yourself, I searched the web and landed/was guided here at/to Creative in Dec 06 and have enjoyed every step along the way to learning about and the writing of poetry.
     This place has heart....
Once again thank you feralpen for both your time and kind comments. Glad you enjoyed it.

Best regards

Paul

Paul  woohoo

Love it. I agree very much with what FeralPen said. I'm sorry it took me so long to come and read it. I especially like the way the 'secret' is shared with children, who will feel very pleased with themselves for working it out. Just the right balance of mystery and sign post. Well done.  Positive Karma And it is obvious how much you enjoy writing for children. It's not as easy as people often assume. You do it well indeed. applause

Glad you found  donkey your way here, btw  Dance & Sing
